Saints Week 10 Notes

Heading into their week 10 bye the New Orleans Saints are coming off a 3 game stretch against division opponents where they finished 2-1. The bye week should give them enough time to heal and get some previously injured players back as they strive to get back in the playoff race. It's already been a busy week at the Saints headquarters as they released one of their defensive starters but now they get two players back and had a player named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Willie Whitehead was named NFC defensive player of the week for week 9. Whitehead played in all but three of the Saints defensive plays and following the game stayed behind in a Tampa Bay hospital where he received treatment for dehydration. With the release of Grady Jackson Whitehead is expected to be moved from DE to DT.

Keyou Craver is eligible to be reinstated by the league coming off his four game suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. He did not report to the team headquarters on Wednesday as he was reportedly completing his treatment. The team hopes he will rejoin them either today or tomorrow.

Darren Howard practiced for the first time on Wednesday after having the cast removed from his wrist. Howard will be limited for the next few weeks and instead of starting the Nov. 16th game against Atlanta he will likely start off playing in passing situations while he works his way back into the starting lineup.

Sedrick Hodge also returned to practice on Wednesday. Also limited coach Haslett expects him to play against Atlanta, though his status as a starter will not be determined until later.
