Saints Sign Pathon

The New Orleans Saints have come to terms with former Colts WR, Jerome Pathon. It's a four year deal worth $10 million with a $1 million signing bonus.

The Saints continue to make moves in free agency to fill holes on both sides of the ball. With last night's signing of Jerome Pathon, the team will now focus on the DT position in the draft, specifically, Albert Haynesworth and Wendell Bryant. The thinking around Saints camp is the team is making these moves in an effort to package both first round picks(13,25)in a trade with the Jaguars that will have the Saints drafting 9th overall.

Pathon, a fourth year man out of Washington, will be the Saints starting receiver opposite Joe Horn. The signing of Pathon likely means that veteran UFA WR WIllie Jackson will not be back in 2003.

The Saints beat out the Colts and the Vikings for Pathon, both of who offered big money to the speedy receiver. Pathon felt the Saints had more to offer him and so the 6'0", 182-pounder inked a deal with the Saints.

In just four games with Indianapolis last year, Pathon caught 24 balls for 330 yards and two touchdowns. He gives the Saints a young, playmaking receiver opposite Joe Horn who will surely make a run at the 1,000 yard receiving mark.
