Saints add three more players on Sunday

The New Orleans Saints were finally on the clock in the fifth round on Sunday and took DeMario Pressley out of North Carolina State. Later in the fifth, the Saints took Nebraska T Carl Nicks. In the sixth round the Saints selected PK Taylor Mehlhaff of Wisconsin.

The New Orleans Saints continued to build up their defensive line with their first selection on Sunday, taking North Carolina State defensive tackle DeMario Pressley.

Pressley's selection comes a day after the Saints selected USC DT Sedrick Ellis at No. 7 overall.

The Saints moved up in the fifth round from No. 146 to No. 144 to select Pressley.

The Saints then selected Nebraska T Carl Nicks later in the fifth round. In the sixth round the Saints selected placekicker Taylor Mehlhaff of Wisconsin.

Pressley (6-foot-1, 301 pounds) missed several games due to injury in 2007, but finished his career with the Wolfpack with 31 career starts, most of them at tackle.

He recorded 145 tackles (94 solos) with 4.5 sacks for minus-24 yards, 21 stops for losses of 56 yards and 14 quarterback pressures. He also caused a pair of fumbles and recovered another.

The Saints have one more selection in the fifth round, in addition to selections in the sixth and seventh rounds. The Saints reportedly gave up their seventh round pick to move up in the fifth.

On Saturday the Saints traded up to take Ellis at No. 7 overall, and then selected Indiana CB Tracy Porter in the second round.

The Saints dealt their third-round pick to acquire the No. 7 pick and did not have a fourth-round pick after dealing it to the New York Jets to acquire Jonathan Vilma.
