Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports the Seattle Seahawks have acquired running back Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills.
According to Glazer, the Seahawks have traded a fourth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, as well as a conditional draft choice in 2012 to acquire the 24-year old running back from Cal.
Lynch (5-11, 215) leads the Bills with 37 carries for 164 yards, but the former first-round pick out of Cal has been unhappy with his contract. Lynch has rushed for 2,765 yard and 17 touchdowns over the last 3+ seasons, adding 94 receptions for 670 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield.
Lynch earned a trip to the Pro Bowl following the 2008 season, but the presence of running backs Fred Jackson and 2010 first-round pick C.J. Spiller made Lynch expendable to the Bills.
Lynch adds a power-running element to a backfield that includes Justin Forsett, his former teammate at Cal, and Leon Washington. The arrival of Lynch also results in the end of Julius Jones' career with the Seahawks.
Jones, who led the team in rushing in 2008 and 2009, dressed, but did not play in the team's Week 3 win over the San Diego Chargers, and was inactive in Sunday's 20-3 loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reported that Jones has been released.
Lynch is signed through the next season (2012 voids) at base salaries of $885,000 this season (prorated amount of $676,765), and $2.14 million in 2011.
