Simsheuser Camps at FAU
Florida Atlantic target Jayke Simsheuser got his first look at the Boca Raton campus on Sunday. The Rockhurst High School prospect made the trip from Kansas City (MO) for the Owls' One Day Camp. "I got a ton of reps with everything we did," Simsheuser said with a laugh. "There were four tight ends, and I was the only one with an offer. We did one-on-ones, with the linebackers for a while. Then I went over with defensive backs." "I was really on my game. I feel really good about it." The Show Me State prospect was impressed with the talent at the FAU camp, but was quick to point out that Kansas City doesn't take a back seat. "I saw guys that were good, but, I mean, we get them just as good in KC," he said. "There are just a lot more of the Florida-kind of football player, guys that are just crazy fast. I think I stack up with guys on the offensive side of the ball, and I believe I can play with anybody." Simsheuser spent time working with the Florida Atlantic tight ends coach Jared Allen. After a day on the field, he came away with a good feel for the offense. "I've gotten to build a relationship with Coach Allen, and getting to work with him today was cool. A lot of the blocking stuff, I work on every day. I was really comfortable with everything we did." "I was the only kid from the Midwest in this group of kids from Florida, and I was having a good day. It was awesome." The Rockhurst standout is hitting the camp circuit hard this summer. With several trips over the next month, Simsheuser is looking to add to his offer list. "My next trip will be in a couple of weeks," he said. "We are driving to Bowling Green. On the way, we are going to stop in DeKalb and work out for the coaches at Northern Illinois." As Simsheuser continues to heat up, another offer could be on the way over the next few days. "Coach Cosgrove told me to make sure I call them by the end of this coming week," he said of the Lobos assistant. "Maybe I could be seeing a New Mexico offer in the very near future."
