For Rookies Ken Hamlin and Marcus Trufant the opportunity could not be wasted.
Trufant started at Right Cornerback and showed that he has the skills necessary to succeed in that position
In one stretch in the second quarter the Chargers attempted two consecutive passes to Wide Receiver Terry Charles. Trufant was covering Charles and both passes were incompletes
" I think I just came into the game trying to be focused , trying not to look at it as a preseason game, but an opportunity to get better. I" Trufant said of Saturday's night's game.
Hamlin started for the injured Damien Robinson and played a solid game with no visible mistakes.
The Seahawks defense allowed San Diego just 73yards passing and 23 yards rushing in the first half.
Head Coach Mike Holmgren was pleased with the play of his young players," I thought they did fine. But Hamlin, that's why he's a defensive back, and not a wide receiver, because he dropped that ball, that's what I told him. He and Marcus were fine. They played a lot. We had so many guys that we left back in Cheney on defense, that we had to play some of the youngin's a little more than we had originally planned. We had 3 defensive lineman that played pretty much the whole game inside, so they're going to be real tired tonight. I applaud their effort. They did a great job."
Linebacker Orlando Huff injured his knee and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Free Safety Terreal Bierria had the defenses only interception of the game , while Marcus Bell recovered a Seth Buford to record the defenses only fumble.
