Seahawks reduce roster to 53

The Seattle Seahawks waived 16 players and placed Lamar King on the physically unable to perform list to trim their roster to the league mandated 53 players.

The Seahawks waived, DT Luis Almanzar, LB Marcus Bell, FS Walter Bernard, TE Deitan Dubuc, CB Doug Evans, DE Joey Evans, FS Curtis Fuller, LB Dane Krager, P Mat McBriar, DE Norris McCleary, G Kaulana Noa, RB Tellis Redmon, WR Jerheme Urban, WR Taco Wallace, TE Josh Whitman and NFL Europe exemption WR Emmett Johnson.

King underwent micro fracture surgery on his right knee during the off-season, and  has yet to take part in full contact drills. King was expected back for the beginning of the season.

Marcus Bell was the only real surprise on the roster. Bell was in  heated battle with  D.D Lewis, Isaiah  Kacyvenski, and Tracy White.

Bell, was originally a fourth-round draft choice in 2000 and  played in 45 games and started nine totaling 99 tackles, two sacks and one interception. Bell started nine games last season and totaled a career-high 74 tackles.

The team will announce it's practice squad on Monday. Top Stories
