Pro Bowl tackle Jones ends holdout.

Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones ended his contract hold out Tuesday, passed his physical and practiced with the team. Jones missed all of training camp and the preseason due to a contract hold out. Jones was hoping to procure a long term deal with the team, but ended up agreeing to the teams one-year tender of $5.9 million. This is the second consecutive year Jones has held out. Last year Jones missed the first three weeks of the season.

Here is what Pro Bow tackle Walter Jones had to say about his hold out and return to the team:

Q: What was your reason in coming back at this point in time?
Walter: "I'm just ready to come back and play football. That's the whole objective, to come back here and get me to play football."

Q: How is your conditioning?
Walter: "I feel pretty good. It takes a couple of days to get yourself into football shape, but I'm going to take it one day at a time and see what happens"

Q: Do you expect to start on Sunday?
Walter: "I don't know. Like I said, I'm going to take it one day at a time and let the coaches make the decision on how practice goes this week."

Q: What did you expect coming in today?
Walter: "Just coming out here and get a chance to be with the players and talk with the players and see that I'm back and I'm ready to play."

Q: What have you been doing before you got here?
Walter: "Just doing the things to get me ready for the season; running, doing offensive lineman drills and stuff, just being prepared for when I came in."

Q: Where were you?
Walter: "I was back at home. Just back with the family and stuff and enjoying the time off."

Q: Did Chris Terry's suspension have anything to do with you're coming back?
Walter: "My plan was to come back. That had no bearing on me coming back or not coming back."

Q: What it will take to get a long term deal done?
Walter: "You're asking the wrong person. I go through that and things don't happen. I'm just going to come in and do my part to help this team win."

Q: Is it hard going through this?
Walter: "It's hard because you miss that time with the players and you can't come in and jell with the line and stuff. You've just got to come in and try to put all this stuff behind you and come out and do the best that will help the team win."

Q: How long will it take to be Walter Jones again?
Walter: "I don't know. Like I said earlier, I'm going to come out every day and work on the things to get me better."

Q: What's your weight today?
Walter: "I was 327, and that's about two pounds lighter than when I came in last year, so I think I'm good at my weight." Top Stories
