Seahawks beat Saints 27 to 10

The Seattle Seahawks won a home season opener for the first time since 1986 when they defeated the Pittsburg Steelers 33-0. The win marks the first time Mike Holmgren has won a home opener as the Seahawks Head coach.


The Seattle Seahawks spotted the New Orleans Saints a 3-0 lead on a 33 yard field goal by John Carney then exploded for 21 unanswered points on their way to a 21 to 3 first half lead.


Shaun Alexander scored on a one yard run   to make it   7 to 3 Seattle.

Antonio Cochran recovered a Derrick Lewis fumble at the New Orleans 38 yard line and Seattle went up 14 to 7 on a 35 yard pass play from Matt Hasselbeck to Koren Robinson.


Hasselbeck hit Alexander on a ten-yard screen and Seattle had its third touchdown of the quarter.

The Seahawks defense continued it' opportunistic ways when Chike Okeafor intercepted an Aaron Brooks pass that was deflected by Marcus Trufant.


The Seahawks converted the turn over into points when Josh Brown made good on a 37 yard field   Seattle 24 New Orleans 3.

New Orleans made it 24 to 10 when Aaron Brooks found Joe Horn open in the end zone for a two-yard completion.


The Seahawks offense ran eight plays then punted and set the stage for the defense to make another opportunistic play.


The play was a hit on Saints Quarterback Aaron Brooks by Chike Okeafor that resulted in a fumble recovery by Chad Brown.

The Seahawks converted the turn over into a   25 field goal by Josh Brown with just over two minutes to go in the game.
