Seahawks suffer lackluster 27 to 24 loss

The Seattle Seahawks are 0-2 on the road this year. The Seahawks had two fumbles, three interceptions, several dropped passes and a blocked field goal. Both of the losses on the road have been disappointing because of the result and effort.

The Seahawks took an early 7-0 lead on a 46-yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Ituli Mili.

Cincinnati tied it at 7 all on it's next offensive possession on an 18 yard run by Rudi Johnson, who started for the injured Corey Dillion.

Seattle next possession ended on dropped pass by Darrell Jackson on a 3rd and 11.

Jackson was open and in a position to make the play.


After trading punts. Cincinnati took advantage of another Jackson miscue (fumble after a reception) when John Kitna hit TE Kelly Washington on an 8-yard pass. Cincinnati 14- Sea 7.

Seattle tied the score at 14 when Matt Hasselbeck hit Shaun Alexander with a 2-yard pass.  Shaun Alexander was responsible for 72 yards in the scoring drive.

Cincinnati took advantage of another Seattle turnover when Cornerback Tory James intercepted a Matt Hasselbeck pass at the Seattle 39 yard line.

Shayne Graham made good on 30 yd field goal with 1:02 left in the half.

Seattle went into its two-minute offense and was able to come away with points before the half expired.

Seattle drove down to the Cincinnati 9 yard line and settled for a 27-yard field by Josh Brown with five seconds left in the half.

Seattle took the lead when it scored on its first possession of the second half on   six yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Ituli Mili.

Cincinnati answered Seattle score with a 25-yard field goal by Shayne Graham with nine seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

Cincinnati blocked a Josh Brown field 49-yard field goal and took the lead for good when John Kitna hit Chad Johnson for a 53 yard pass play.

Cincinnati Cornerback Jeff Burris intercepted a Matt Hasselbeck pass with 1:52 left in the game and the ball at the Cincinnati 35 yard line to seal the victory for the Bengal.


"It's not the end of the world, but it deflates you a little bit," Hasselbeck said. "The plays were there to be made. The ball bounces your way sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. We were on the wrong side of a fine line today."

Seattle is now 5-2 while the surging Bengal's are (3-4) after winning there last two games.


LB Chad Brown (foot) and Norman Hand (turf toe) did not play. Linebacker Randell Godfrey left the game with a strained neck.

Matt Hasselbeck finished with 26/43 344yard 3 int and 3td. Shaun Alexander has 86 yard on 20 carries. Darrel Jackson had 9 recpts for 98 yards.
