Seahawks gain playoff berth

For the first time since 1999 the Seattle Seahawks have made the playoffs.

The then 9-7 Seahawks won the AFC West but lost 20 to 17 to the Miami Dolphins in a first round playoff game.

The Dallas Cowboys' 13-7 loss Sunday at New Orleans clinched the No. 5 Wild Card seeding for Seattle in the NFC Playoffs. The Seahawks had a better strength of schedule than that of Dallas.

A last second win by Arizona (18 to 17) over Minnesota also assured the Seahawks of a playoff spot had the Cowboys lost.

The Dallas win sends the Seahawks back to Green Bay, the site of 35 to 13 week five loss, were they were played one of their worst games of the season.

Green Bay won the NFC North by defeating the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota loss.

Although Green Bay finished with an identical record to the Seahawks (10-6) they are the fourth seed by winning the division.

The game will be on Sunday, January 4, at 10:00 am PT, and will be televised on FOX. Top Stories
