Training Camp: Day 7

Somebody call 911 for an ambulance, get the M*A*S*H unit fired up and call the Red Cross, Seahawks training camp has been bitten by a bug that nary a coach or fan wants to see – the dreaded injury bug.

The News Tribune's Mike Sando reported today that 15 – yes that is 15 – Seahawks sat out the afternoon practice due to various ailments. The list is a who's who of the Hawks' Roster:

WR Marque Davis, P Ryan Dutton, RB Maurice Morris, FS Ken Hamlin, CB Kevin House, RB Shaun Alexander, RB Jesse Lumsden, MLB Lofa Tatupu, DT Ron Smith, OL Jerry Wunsch, TE Ryan Hannam, WR Alex Bannister, DT Rashad Moore and DT Cedric Woodard.

Most of these "injuries" are minor tweaks of hamstrings or muscles that the training staff is being extra cautious with, but if it was the regular season they probably wouldn't keep the players out of games. Two worth keeping a closer eye on are Moore's shoulder and Tatupu's hamstring.

It was originally thought that Tatupu had suffered a quad injury, but further tests showed it actually was a hamstring injury. Tatupu just got into camp and it was hoped he would challenge second-year veteran Niko Koutouvides for the starting inside spot. The more time he misses the farther behind he will be.

Moore's injury is a little more problematic as the team was expecting a big season from the third year defensive tackle. He has had chronic pain with the shoulder and his shoulder soreness might be cause for concern.

Alexander and Morris sat out with hamstring strains in the afternoon, but Alexander was running very hard in the morning, so his issues aren't really worth getting too worked up about.

Doug is also planning a candid look at he and his fellow .Netters exploits in Cheney over the next 72 hours. It should be quite interesting. Top Stories
