Seahawks.NET Power Rankings - Week Eight

Put your hand on the railroad track. You can't actually see the train. But you can feel it shake the rails. You can't actually hear the train. But it's headed your way at 90 MPH all the same. Tons of locomotive, barreling down the tracks headed directly to YOU.

Sure, that train started off slowly. Some folks didn’t even think the engine’d get out of the station. But it did. And it picked up steam. And started going faster and faster. And now it’s headed through your town. Just because the train isn’t being announced on the news, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just because the train almost got derailed last week, doesn’t mean it’s not still cruising.

Watch out NFC West.  Y’all are standing on the tracks.

Choo choo, baby.

The Colts are winning games using the tried-and-true method of ball control and solid defense. One shudders to think what will happen in post-season when they open it up to full-throttle.

2
Pittsburgh's approach is simple: They run and run and run and you can't stop them.
4
3
Seattle lost both starting WR's and won two games in a row. They head into the bye as the team to beat in NFC.
6

Okay, I'll admit it, I've been selling the Redskins short. They're playing and beating quality teams. They certainly have the best defense in the NFC, and Brunell has the offense clicking. This is a team nobody wants to face right now.
16
5
Well, the Giants have been a big surprise this year. Now they need to prove themselves against a team with no serious weakness. I think if Big Blue can pull this off, they're headed to the Playoffs.
12
6
The Broncos have face one of the toughest schedules in football so far, and done extremely well. Shanahan is an early favorite for Coach of the Year.

7
If Andy Reid doesn't start running, he's going to find himself on the outside looking in come January.
5
8
Jacksonville needs a bit more offensive production to go along with their solid D. A game in St. Louis should be just what the doctor ordered.

9
3 interceptions, under 120 yards and no passing touchdowns for Vick on Monday Night. Explain to me why he'll make the Pro Bowl again?
9
10
The Cowboys were unable to move the ball against the Seattle defense when it counted and for the second time this year, they've surrendered a lead, and the win, in the 4th quarter.

11
New England has had a week off to prepare for the Bills and that's bad news for Buffalo.
11
12
Cadillac is back but now the Bucs are dealing with a new QB in Chris Simms. Fortunately, they're playing the 49ers, which should be a nice scrimmage for Simms to get reaquainted with the offense..
13
13
Once again, Kansas City has a Top Ten offense and one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
15
14
Just because he doesn't make an ass out of himself after every touchdown, doesn't mean Steve Smith should be as underrated as he his. After all, he leads the NFL in touchdowns.
14
15
The Bengals have yet to beat a team with a winning record. Until they do, they're not as good as they think they are.
7
16
The Chargers just can't seem to win the close ones. I think they're a better team than their record shows, but they've got to figure out a way win these close ones.
10
17
Chicago's defense has kept the team afloat this year, and in the NFC North, that's good enough. If rookie Kyle Orton remains steady, the Bears might just pull off a worst to first this season.
19
18
Thank the refs and the ineptitude of the Saints clock management for the win, Rams. Then again, a win is a win,
21
19
Nick Saban returns to Death Valley on the visitors side of the bench. How weird is THAT gonna feel?
18
20
Where the heck has this offense been all year? If the Raiders can manage a little defense to go along with it, they'll actually contend this year.
29
21
As underrated as I had the Redskins, that's how overrated I had the Bills. Buffalo is just not very good on either side of the ball. I guess the end of last year was a fluke.
17
22
Joey Harrington's career as a starter in Detroit is over. Garcia ran for a TD in first game back from a broken leg. Joey hasn't run for a TD yet.
23
23
Arizona struggled mightily against the Titans but still managed a win. They'll need to play better this week against the Cowboys.
26
24
Tennessee lost due in large part to the injury to Chris Brown. Brown is expected to start this week, improving the Titans' chances against Oakland.
24
25
Ray Lewis and Ed Reed will be sitting out Monday Night's game against the Steelers. There goes any chance for a win.
20
26
The Browns' offense was painful to watch last Sunday. Trent Dilfer needs protection and needs to make better decisions when he's under pressure.
22
27
The Vikings showed signs of life by not giving up on a game and winning on a 56-yard field goal as time ran out. Now if they could just figure out what's wrong with Daunte Culpepper.
30
28
Green Bay lost Ahman Green for the season. Add that together with Najeh Davenport's season-ending injury a few weeks ago and Pack are in the hunt for the #1 Draft pick in 2006.
25
29
A horrendous call cost the Saints dearly. Of course, that's why you hold onto at least one timeout until the 2 minute warning.
28
30
You can't turn over the ball 3 out of your first 4 drives and expect to win.
27
31
Injuries have devestated an already lousy defense. Next up: Cadillac Williams and the Bucs.

*Sigh*
