Seahawks.NET Power Rankings - Week Fifteen

With only three weeks left in the NFL regular season, over half of the league still has post-season dreams and only two teams (Indianapolis and Seattle) have actually made the playoffs.

There is a clear divide between the top two teams and the rest of the pack. Any team ranked below number eighteen has been eliminated from the postseason. Our biggest gainer this week was the Cleveland Browns, who jumped 6 spots based on their solid outing against division-leading Cinncinnati, while the San Diego Chargers slid 5 spots after losing to Miami.

The Colts will attempt to tie the NFL record for most consecutive single season wins at home this weekend against the Chargers

The Seahawks have a two-game lead on the rest of the NFC. A win in Tennessee, coupled with a Bears loss to Atlanta, and the road to Detroit will go through Seattle.

3
The Bengals can lock up their first division title in 16 years with a win in Detroit.

The Broncos were held under 100 yards rushing for the first time in eons last week and came perilously close to losing at home to the lowly Ravens. Still, they won and the rest of the AFC West lost, giving Denver a 2-game cushion.

5
The Giants have to be concerned with Eli Manning's meltdown at the end of the game last week. Against a good team, 3 INTs in the final quarter and overtime will end in a loss.
7
6
Suddenly the Bucs' rushing attack is back and they're a serious playoff contender again. Where was this a month ago?
10
7
2-11 on fourth down and only 10 points on three red zone possessions are the reasons Carolina lost to the Bucs.
6
8
Chicago's total lack of offense has begun costing them games.
5
9
Their backs were against the wall and the Steelers responded. They'll need to do it again this week in Minneapolis.
12
10
The Cowboys are winning and losing by the slimmest of margins this year. Their Sunday afternoon showdown with Washington will determine their season.
13
11
Even with a backup quarterback, the Jaguars should have no trouble dispactching the 49ers this weekend.

The Patriots have a chance to clinch the division this Saturday, but will be tested by the stout Tampa Bay defense.

13
San Diego's season probably rides on this week's game. Too bad it's against undefeated Indianapolis.

Can Cinderella make it to the postseason? They face a tough test this week when the Steelers come calling.
14
15
For the second straight week, Kansas City is on the road against an NFC East opponent.

Michael Vick looked great against the Saints on Monday Night … until he left the game with bruised ribs. It's safe to say the Falcons' season is riding on the severity of that injury.
15
17
Kid Bro Sweet (aka Clinton Portis) kept his Thursday promise and boosted the Redskins over Arizona, keeping Washington's faint playoff hopes alive.
17
18
The last of the sub-500 teams to still have a shot at the post-season. All that has to happen is New England lose every game, and Miami win every game. Hey, if Sage Roosenfels can lead the greatest comeback in Miami history, why not?
18
19
After pre-season, I said everyone would know who Ryan Moats was by the season's end. I just didn't think we'd know like this.
19
20
Watch out for the Browns. Their stingy defense is much better than anyone gives them credit for. They may yet ruin someone's Christmas.
26
21
The honeymoon is over for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who tossed 5 INT's in a crushing loss to the Vikings.
20
22
So the game is on the line. It's fourth and two. You're the worst rushing team in the NFL by a wide margin and you have two 1,000 yard WRs. Why on earth are you running the ball?
21
23
Memo to Eric Moulds: Meshawn and T.O. have demonstrated that the "me-first" attitude gets you deactivated. Just thought you'd like to know.
23
24
I'm guessing we'll be adding Ahman Green to the list of Free Agent running backs for 2006. The knock on Gado is he fumbles. Like Green didn't?
29
25
If it took a miracle to beat Houston in Nashville last week, what's it going to take to win against a team that's outscored their opponents 83-3 over the last two weeks?
27
26
I'm thinking the Ravens might think about trading up for Matt Leinart this April.
24
27
Well, firing Mariucci has worked out well. Now if you only had another first round Wide Reciever …
24
28
The offense finally woke up and helped out the defense and the Jets broke a 7 game slide. Way too late to save the season, of course.
31
29
Great job, Oakland, you gave up 26 point to the anemic Jets. That would be one point more than they scored over the last four weeks combined.
25
30
The 49ers have been swept by the Seahawks for the third consecutive season, having surrendered 188 points in those six games.
28
31
If the Saints are smart, and I'm not saying they are, they'll draft a QB in the first round.
30
32
I don't buy the conspiracy theories, but that was a HORRENDOUS kick last week.
