Hawks to get visit from top running back

Seahawks.Net has learned that a running back is on the visit list and will be making his way to Kirkland very soon. Even with the re-signing of Maurice Morris, the Hawks are still looking for a third back to possibly be a return man and possibly be a fill-in if Morris or starter Shaun Alexander should go down. Visiting this week will be a player who was close to leading the nation in rushing as a senior.

His name is Jerome Harrison – AKA "the ghost" – from Washington State.

He's only 5-10, 200 pounds, but he's all heart. As a junior he played in all 11 of the Cougars' games and started five finishing with 900 yards to lead the team. He was Pac 10 offensive player of the week four times and against UCLA he carried a school-record 42 times, gained 247 yards and scored three touchdowns. That yardage total was the third most ever by a Cougar running back. He was also All-Pac 10 honorable mention as a kick returner.

As a senior he was even more amazing totaling 1,900 yards on the ground (second only to Memphis' DeAngelo Williams) and 16 touchdowns. He was also a receiving threat out of the backfield catching 24 passes for 206 yards and another score.

Harrison's stature is actually a plus, as he hides behind his blockers and then shows a very quick burst when making his initial cut. He has superb vision, good body lean and he also has another gear when he needs to outrun a defender.

He is expected to be at Seahawks headquarters sometime this week.
