On the Bubble: The NFC

With the final roster cutdowns looming and due by Saturday afternoon, Scout.com's NFL Expert Adam Caplan takes a look at each NFC team, and tells us which players of note are on the bubble.

On the Bubble

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys

On the Bubble of Note:
Keylon Kincade/RB – Would be the fourth back on the team and they’ll likely only carry three.
Skyler Green/WR/KR/PR – Spot isn’t a lock as he’s not in the mix as a receiver.
Jason Fabini/OT – Far from a lock despite his relationship with head coach Bill Parcells.
Kenyon Coleman/DE – Probably a better fit for the 4-3.
Montavious Stanley/DT – Practice squad candidate.
Marcus Coleman/S – Already will be suspended four games and his job could be expendable.

New York Giants

On the Bubble of Note:
Willie Ponder/WR – 50-50 shot to make the team.
Anthony Mix/WR – Practice squad candidate.
Reggie Torbor/LB – They’re deep at his position outside.
Frank Walker/CB – They’re deep in depth.
Curtis Deloatch/CB – Could find a job with another team.

Philadelphia Eagles

On the Bubble of Note:

Timmy Chang/QB – Practice squad candidate at best though he had a good camp.
Bruce Perry/RB – Almost no shot to make the team due to strong depth at the position.
Darnerian McCants/WR – Could yield a late round pick in a trade but a long shot to make the team due to strong depth at receiver.
Justin Jenkins/WR – Practice squad candidate.
Jabar Gaffney/WR – 50-50 shot to make the team.
JR Reed/S/KR – Better than 50-50 shot to make the team.
Nick Cole/C – Practice squad candidate.
Keyonta Marshall/DT

Washington Redskins

On the Bubble of Note:
Manuel White/FB – They have one too many on the roster at his position.
Nehemiah Broughton/FB - They have one too many on the roster at his position.
Jimmy Farris/WR – Has a shot to stick if they keep six receivers.
Derrick Frost/P – Bad camp means a shaky roster spot.
Julian Battle/CB – Could be in a numbers situation.
Vernon Fox/S – Just joined the roster and is less than 50-50 to make the team.

NFC North

Chicago Bears

On the Bubble of Note:
Airese Currie/WR – The oft-injured receiver could have a spot on the practice squad.
Craig Bragg/WR – Long shot to make the team.
Tyler Reed/G – Team likes him and if he doesn’t make the final roster, he’ll be on the practice squad.
Michael Haynes/DE – Team isn’t exactly high on him and he’s been a disappointment since he’s been drafted.

Detroit Lions

On the Bubble of Note:
Artose Pinner/RB – Likely out of a job, could be traded.
Charles Rogers/WR – Better than 50-50 to make the team but where he ends up on the depth chart is still an issue.
Glenn Martinez/WR – Good camp story and a good shot to make the final roster.
Shaun Bodiford/WR – Another good camp story and a practice squad candidate.
Fred Matua/G – Practice squad candidate.
Jon McGraw/S – Has been a disappointment as a pro and is far from a lock to make the team.

Green Bay Packers

On the Bubble of Note:
Arliss Beach/RB – He had a good camp and could find a spot on the practice squad
Cory Rodgers/WR –Had a shaky camp and isn’t a lock to make the team.
Ahmad Carroll/CB - Despite his lofty draft status, not a lock to make the team. Yet another mistake draft pick from his Mike Sherman era.

Minnesota Vikings

On the Bubble:
Mike McMahon/QB – With Brooks Bollinger in the fold, he could be out of a job.
J.T. O’Sullivan/QB – Probably out of a job.
Mike Rosenthal/OT – Despite the team turning down any trade overtures from the Cardinals, he could be traded or released.
Adam Goldberg/G – Less than 50-50 to make the team.
Kevin Kasper/KR/WR – Good returner but oft injured.
Billy McMullen/WR – Probably better than 50-50 to make the team.
DeQuincy Scott/DE – A personal favorite of former Viking executive Fran Foley that got demoted recently. Still has plenty of talent and could hook up with another team rather quickly if he’s let go.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons

On the Bubble of Note:
Jerome Pathon/WR – With the addition of WR Ashley Lelie and the development of rookie WR Adam Jennings, Pathon could be out of a job.
Shawn Draper/OT – The former tight end is a real long shot to make the team.
Travis Williams/OLB – Undersized linebacker who could find a spot on the practice squad.
Allen Rossum/CB/KR/PR – 50-50 shot to make the team.
Omare Lowe/CB – Too many at his position on the roster.

Carolina Panthers

On the Bubble of Note:
Stephan LeFors/QB – The rapid development of rookie QB Brett Basanez could make Lefors expendable.
Eric Shelton/RB – Has been a big disappointment and could be traded or released despite being a former second-round pick.
Mike Seidman/TE – Could be caught up in a numbers problem.
Atiyyah Ellison/DT – Long shot to make the team due to strong veteran depth.
Keith Adams/LB – Had veteran LB Na’il Diggs not gotten hurt, he could have been cut earlier this week.

New Orleans Saints

On the Bubble:
Todd Bouman/QB – Either he or Martin will be cut.
Jamie Martin/QB - Either he or Bouman will be cut.
Bethel Johnson/WR – The oft-injured receiver is a true 50-50 shot to make the final roster.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On the Bubble:
Derek Watson/RB – Small shot to make the team.
Ike Hilliard/WR – Either he or Boston could be cut.
David Boston/WR – Had a good camp but far from a lock to make the team due to the development of rookie WR Maruice Stovall.
Paris Warren/WR – Practice squad candidate.
Torrie Cox/CB – 50-50 shot to make the team.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals

On the Bubble of Note:
James Hodgins/FB – Less than 50-50 to make the team due to the development of former TE Jon Bronson.
Marcel Shipp/RB – Either he or Anderson are likely to be cut or traded.
Damien Anderson/RB - Either he or Shipp are likely to be cut or traded.
Todd Watkins/WR – Practice squad candidate.
Mark Brown/LB – 50-50 shot to make the team.
Robert Tate/CB – Best shot to make the team is as their dime back.

St. Louis Rams

On the Bubble of Note:
Dave Ragone/QB – Either he or Fitzpatrick are likely out of a job.
Ryan Fitzpatrick/QB - Either he or Ragone are likely out of a job.
Fred Russell/RB – The coaches love his speed but the other veteran backs are ahead of him on the depth chart.
Adam Pyatt/WR/KR – He’s competing for the KR job against rookie WR Marques Haggans.
Taylor Stubblefield/WR – Almost no shot to make the team.
Jerome Collins/TE – Despite a lackluster camp, rookie TE Dominque Byrd will make the team which makes Collins’ job tenuous.
DeJuan Groce/CB – Caught up in a numbers situation.

San Francisco 49ers

On the Bubble of Note:
Shaun Hill/QB – Currently third on the depth chart but the team has a few other former quarterbacks who are playing receiver on the roster.
Marcus Maxwell/WR – Practice squad candidate.
Taylor Jacobs/WR – They traded for him but he needs to show them something soon.

Seattle Seahawks
(by Doug Farrar – Seahawks.NET)

On the Bubble of Note:
David Kirtman/FB – His status could depend on the severity of Leonard Weaver’s ankle injury. If Weaver’s okay, Kirtman is probably a practice squadder..
Peter Warrick/WR – An outside shot, given the Seahawks’ call to exclude his from punt return duties on the win over Oakland. Has been outperformed by at least Maurice Mann in the preseason, and the returning D.J. Hackett showed who the real #4 is..
Ben Obomanu/WR – Probably outdone by Maurice Mann - possible practice squad if Warrick goes.
Chris Cooper/DL – Can play inside or outside but the team has pretty good depth on the defensive line. Holmgren mentioned his great play in the preseason, but Joe Tafoya is a Tim Ruskell favorite.
Marquis Weeks/HB – A great showing against the Raiders, but he’ll have a tough go in a very deep roster position. Probably didn’t do enough to supplant Josh Scobey, but he’d be a great practice squad keeper if Seattle can get away with that. Weeks looked dynamic in camp, as well.
