Seahawks explode then hang on.

The good news was that offensive explosion finally arrived. The bad news was that it came in one big half.

Seahawk running back Shaun Alexander scored 5 touchdowns to set a new team record for most touchdowns in a game.

Alexander's 30 points is a team record for most points in a game by a single player.

Alexander's five ,first half touchdowns is a National Football League record for most touchdowns in one half. The  record for most touchdowns is 6.

Alexander finished the day with 139rushing yards on 24 attempts.

Quarterback Trent Dilfer talked about Alexander's accomplishments.

"He's a touchdown machine, and that's what we need to do to be successful is to get the ball in his hands as much as we can in situations where we can score".

Alexander also caught 3 passes for 92 yards.

The Seahawks offense scored every time they got the ball in the first half.

"It was just what we needed. It was fun and kind of what we thought we would do. We moved the ball a little and we were very balanced, which we need to be", Dilfer said when asked about the team's first half explosion.

The Seahawk defense and special teams played a significant role in the offensive explosion.

The kickoff team forced two consecutive fumbles that lead to two touchdowns and Reggie Tongue made it three scores when he picked of a Dante Culpepper pass and ran 46 yards for a touchdown.

After going into the locker room with a 45 to 10 lead the Seahawks offense was a no show in the second half.

The offense produced just three points in the second half ,a 21yard field goal by Ryan Lindell

Although they allowed the Vikings offense 13 second half points the Seattle Defense held up their end of the bargain. The Seattle defense stopped the Vikings offense on 3 of 4, fourth down attempts and intercepted Viking Quarterback Dante Culpepper with 9 seconds left in the game to seal the teams first victory of the season.

Despite the teams second half offensive woes, Seahawk Head Coach Mike Holmgren was happy with the 48 to 23 victory.

" All in all, it was a great win for us. We'll enjoy it, we have a bye coming up".

With the win the teams improves to a 1-3 record while the Vikings drop to 0-4.
