Schmitt was selected in the fifth round of the 2008 draft and has been projected as the Seahawks' starting fullback in 2009. His arrest comes a year and a month after linebacker Lofa Tatupu was arrested for DUI, the last known incident involving any Seahawks player.
"I sincerely apologize to the team, the NFL, the fans and my family and friends for my actions and my poor judgment," Schmitt said in a prepared statement. "I fully understand the seriousness of this matter, and I am disappointed in myself. I am committed to earning back the trust of everyone affected."
