Multiple news outlets are reporting that the Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran long-snapper Kevin Houser.
Houser, 31, spent the first nine years of his career with the New Orleans Saints, who chose him with the 228th overall pick of the 2000 NFL Draft.
In the 144 regular season games over his nine-year career, Houser did not have one botched snap. New Orleans released him at the end of June after signing former Carolina Panthers long-snapper Jason Kyle.
Houser's release from the Saints was described as "football-related". It also happened to coincide with the news that he had encouraged several current and former Saints players and coaches, including head coach Sean Payton and Archie Manning, to invest in a tax credit program that had lost about $2 million dollars.
The former Ohio State Buckeye joins veteran Bryan Pittman as the long-snappers on the roster. With training camp just around the corner, the Seahawks likely aren't done shuffling done their roster. Jon Ryan remains the only punter on the roster and the 'Hawks are likely to bring another leg to camp.
