Seahawks Release RB T.J. Duckett

Hours after signing free agent running back Edgerrin James, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that the Seattle Seahawks have released T.J. Duckett.

Hours after signing free agent running back Edgerrin James to a one-year, $2 million dollar contract, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that the Seattle Seahawks have released running back T.J. Duckett.

Both moves are expected to be officially announced on Tuesday. Florio's report states that Duckett was informed of the decision on Monday night.

Duckett joined the Seahawks last off-season, signing a five-year, $13.3 million dollar contract that included $4 million in guarantees. Duckett ran for 172 yards on 68 carries, leading the Seahawks with 8 rushing touchdowns and using his 254-pound frame to help the Seahawks convert on 75% of their 3rd-and-short rush attempts.

Releasing Duckett frees up around $1 million in room under the 2009 salary cap.
