"Base" defense has been the most prevalent defensive package, with 333 of the team's 632 defensive snaps (53.6%) coming with four down linemen, three linebackers, two cornerbacks and two safeties on the field.

Here's a look at the number of snaps, by either pairings (defensive end, defensive tackle, cornerback, and safety) or grouping (linebackers), in base personnel.

Here's a number that has to make Tim Ruskell cringe: This season, the Seahawks paid $1,043,750 for each play that Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu, and Aaron Curry were on the field together this season.

Wondering where the "23-M.Trufant, 31-K.Lucas" combo is? You know, the two cornerbacks who were supposed to start for the Seahawks this season?

Hasn't happened yet.

As we know, Marcus Trufant was on the physically-unable-to-perform list and missed the first six weeks of the season. When he returned in Week 8 against Dallas, he came in as part of the team's nickel packages until Lucas' suffered a concussion that limited his snaps against Arizona the following week. Josh Wilson, and apparently Kelly Jennings, have since surpassed Lucas on the depth chart opposite Trufant.

That was $2.3 million dollars well spent, eh?
