Team Commentary
1
2
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS The Colts have won 21 regular season games in a row, tying the NFL record set by the Patriots a few years back.  They appear to be the "team of destiny" this year.
2
1
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS Usually New Orleans is the team finding creative ways to lose.  This year, they're the team with all of the good juju.
3
3
MINNESOTA VIKINGS There such a large gulf between the top 3 teams and the rest of the pack that even with a convincing loss, the Vikings hold firm at number 3.
4
4
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS The Bolts offense is terrific, but any team that surrenders 3 touchdown passes to Brady Quinn and the moribund Browns offense will be in trouble once the playoffs start.
5
5
CINCINNATI BENGALS Cincinnati is a team that now expects to run the ball right down their opponents throat.  This has led directly to the Bengals moving up in the standings.
6
8
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES The Eagles put a smackdown on the ailing Falcons last week.  They face a much stiffer challenge this week against the resurgent Giants.
7
10
ARIZONA CARDINALS If Arizona's defense can continue to play at the high level they played against Minnesota, the sky's the limit.
8
9
GREEN BAY PACKERS The Pack won ugly … really ugly … last Monday Night.  They will need to play much better this weekend in Chicago.
9
7
DALLAS COWBOYS The Dallas December Swoon kicked off in style with a loss to the Giants.  Next up, the surging Chargers.  Wade Phillips seat is getting hotter by the second.
10
11
DENVER BRONCOS Denver ran roughshod over the hapless Chiefs last weekend to hold their place in the postseason.
11
6
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS The Pats are 1-5 on the road this year.  They're lucky to be in the playoff discussion at all.
12
15
NEW YORK GIANTS For all of their recent struggles, New York swept the Cowboys for the all-important tie-breaker in the NFC East.  This weekend's game vs Philly is a must win if the Giants want a shot at the divison title.
13
17
MIAMI DOLPHINS Miami is 5-0 in December under Tony Sparano.
14
20
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Jacksonville is in the thick of the AFC playoff picture.
15
12
ATLANTA FALCONS With Matt Ryan and Michael Turner down with injuries, the final stretch looks bleak in Atlanta.
16
13
BALTIMORE RAVENS The Ravens killed themselves last Monday Night with stupid penalties and costly turnovers.  They do not have a potent enough offense to overcome such blunders.
17
14
PITTSBURGH STEELERS Time to admit that the Steelers defense is far from elite.  They've surrendered 4th quarter leads five times this season.  Blech.
18
16
TENNESSEE TITANS The dream is over in Tennessee.  Still, the team will finish the season as an eager spoiler.
19
21
NEW YORK JETS The Jets won ugly, but they won, keeping their postseason dreams alive for another week.
20
18
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS The 49ers postseason hopes went down the drain last weekend in Seattle.  Now they have to pick themselves up by their bootstraps and prove they've got the mettle to tough out the end of a disappointing season.
21
19
HOUSTON TEXANS Houston's season is on life-support.  If they can't manage a home win against the Seahawks, Gary Kubiak could be out of a job.
22
22
BUFFALO BILLS The Bills have been reduced to the role of spoiler, and they're not even doing that well.
23
23
CAROLINA PANTHERS Once again, the Panthers run the ball a lot and get the win.  Of course, not having Jake Delhomme under center probably helped.
24
24
CHICAGO BEARS How bad are things in Chicago?  They played a 1 win team, and only threw the ball 17 times for fear of giving the game away.  You could do the same thing with Kyle Orton for a lot less money, guys.
24
25
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Seattle isn't very good, but they have enough talent to take down any team that looks past them … that is, until they travel away from Qwest Field.
26
26
WASHINGTON REDSKINS All across America, kickers are sending resumes to Washington D.C.
27
28
OAKLAND RAIDERS Kudos to the Raiders for hanging around until the end to squeak out a tough win on the road.  It would appear that the Jamarcus Russell era is over.
28
27
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS The Chiefs have some playmakers, but the guys that surround them are lousy.
29
29
DETROIT LIONS The good news:  rookie QB Matthew Stafford has scored a touchdown in every game this season.  The bad news:  he's injured.
30
30
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS The Bucs were slinging the ball around like they were down by 20 and, predictably, threw 5 INT's.  What's wrong with running the ball?
31
31
ST. LOUIS RAMS St. Louis still has a loooong way to go before they're competative again.
32
32
CLEVELAND BROWNS The Browns made the Chargers sweat out the end of the game last Sunday, but they'd fallen too far behind to make the comeback.
