Team Commentary
1
1
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS The Colts secured homefield advantage throughout the postseason, set the NFL record for consecutive regular season victory with 22, and set the NFL record for most wins in a decade with 114.
2
2
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS The Saints are looking very pedestrian over the last few weeks, but have manage to pull out last second victories in a very un-Saint like fashion.
3
3
MINNESOTA VIKINGS Minnesota thoroughly beat a very good Cincinnati team last weekend.  They are poised to make some noise in 2010.
4
4
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS The Bolts last lost a December football game in 2005.
5
6
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Only one team stands between Philadelphia and the division crown - themselves.
6
8
GREEN BAY PACKERS With Aaron Rogers having a pedestrian game last Sunday, Ryan Grant stepped up and had a big day.  Good teams will find different ways to win.  The Pack are a good team.
7
5
CINCINNATI BENGALS The Bengals were outplayed last week.  They'll have another shot to sew up the AFC North this weekend.
8
7
ARIZONA CARDINALS Arizona totally blew a shot at proving they are a legit contender in front of a national television audience last Monday night.  Still, they're in better shape than the Steelers.
9
11
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS The Pats are 7-0 at home.  Unfortunately for them, any postseason run will put them on the road where they are just 1-5.
10
10
DENVER BRONCOS Brandon Marshall was a fantasy owners best friend last Sunday, but it was all in vain as the Broncos couldn't put points on the board when it counted.
11
9
DALLAS COWBOYS Death, taxes and the Cowboys losing in December.
12
13
MIAMI DOLPHINS The 'Fins are 6-0 in December under Tony Sparano.
13
16
BALTIMORE RAVENS Baltimore ran roughshod over the pathetic Lions last weekend.  They should enjoy similar success against the failing Bears this week.
14
12
NEW YORK GIANTS The Giants held the ball for 10 more minutes and gained well over 100 more yards than Eagles on Sunday night, but when the game was over, Philly had more points.
15
14
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Jacksonville has been maddeningly inconsistent all year long.  Even if they make the postseason, it's hard to picture them being anything other than one and done.
16
18
TENNESSEE TITANS Tennessee is not going quietly.  The matchup this week with the Dolphins should be epic.
17
15
ATLANTA FALCONS While I agree with Coach Smith that the pass interference call was b.s., he's gotta calm down or he's gonna have an aneurysm right there on the sidelines…
18
19
NEW YORK JETS New York is still alive in the playoff picture … barely.
19
20
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS Where was this team last weekend when they still had a shot at the postseason?
20
21
HOUSTON TEXANS Houston throttled a bad Seattle team.  Next up:  an even worse St. Louis team.  Things are looking up in Houston.
21
17
PITTSBURGH STEELERS The Steelers look like they've quit on the season.  That's a self-fulfilling prophesy, guys.
22
22
BUFFALO BILLS The Bills continue to excel at takeaways.  Too bad the offense excels at not scoring.
23
26
WASHINGTON REDSKINS The Redskins are better than their record would indicate, albeit not much better.
24
23
CAROLINA PANTHERS The Cats defense did everything they could but the offense just couldn't seal the deal.
25
24
CHICAGO BEARS Hard to remember when the Super Bowl was still a viable dream in Chicago.  One things for certain, Jay Cutler needs someone to throw to.
26
25
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS The Seahawks appear to be entering free-fall:  the coach is throwing players under the bus as fast as he can, the offensive line can't block a Cub Scout and the defensive secondary are tissue tigers.
27
27
OAKLAND RAIDERS Even with hindsight, it would be tough to do a worse job drafting than Al Davis has done.  Let's not forget he drafted a KICKER in the first round.
28
28
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Matt Cassell killed the last three winning drives with interceptions.  That's the kind of thing a backup quarterback does.
29
29
DETROIT LIONS The Lions surrendered 332 yards on the ground last weekend.  Blech.
30
32
CLEVELAND BROWNS Cleveland rose up from the dung heap and smacked down the reigning Champs last Thursday.  That will the be the team's sole highlight of the season … but it's a good one.
31
30
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS The numbers don't lie, Tampa Bay sucks.
32
31
ST. LOUIS RAMS The Keith Null era has begun in St. Louis.  Egad.
