The Seattle Seahawks re-signed veteran safety Lawyer Milloy to a one-year deal on Friday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Milloy, 36, went to high school in Tacoma, Washington, and played his college ball at the University of Washington.
A second-round pick (36th overall) by the New England Patriots in 1996, Milloy went two of his four career Pro Bowls while playing for new Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
Milloy spent the first seven seasons of his 14-year career in the NFL with New England, captaining a a Patriots defense that led the way to the first Super Bowl in franchise history. Released by New England prior to the start of the 2003 season, Milloy spend three seasons with both the Buffalo Bills (2003-05) and Atlanta Falcons (2006-08).
The Seahawks signed Milloy to a one-year deal last September. In 16 games, Milloy totaled 34 tackles and a pair of pass break-ups.
Milloy adds veteran depth at safety to a Seahawks roster that is projected to start first-round pick Earl Thomas and Jordan Babineaux this season.
As first reported by Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times, Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. This is the third procedure Branch has had on the knee, which is the same knee he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in during a Divisional Playoff game against the Green Bay Packers in 2007.
The procedure has been termed "minor", but will prevent Branch from participating in the three-day mini-camp.
Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh will also sit out practice, as the Seahawks disclosed he recently had surgery to repair a sports hernia. Houshmandzadeh sustained the injury last season, and is expected to miss a couple of weeks.
Newly acquired running back Leon Washington is still rehabbing a leg injury that ended his 2009 season, and fourth-round cornerback Walter Thurmond, who is recovering from knee surgery, were spectators on Friday, along with Ben Obomanu, Cameron Morrah, Kevin Vickerson, and Jason Pociask. Linebacker Leroy Hill, who was arrested last month on domestic violence charges, was not in attendance.
