Steelers to Host Fan Blitz at Heinz Field

The Steelers are offering football fans an opportunity to celebrate the NFL Draft during an event at Heinz Field Saturday, April 26. <br><br> The 2003 Steelers Fan Blitz, presented by Comcast, will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Heinz Field in conjunction with the first day of the annual NFL Draft (April 26-27).

Fans will have a variety of activities to enjoy in the Coca-Cola Great Hall, the South Plaza, and the East Club Lounge as well as areas of the stadium not normally open to the general public, including the Steelers locker room. Country Music Television will also be on hand with an interactive truck parked along Art Rooney Avenue.

Fans can enjoy the Steelers Experience, which will be set up in various locations throughout the stadium. The Steelers Experience includes the 40-yard dash, 84 Lumber Thread the Nut, Sony Fourth & Goal, the Coca-Cola Field Goal Kick, the McDonald's Kids Zone and the Bungee Run.

The East Club Lounge will feature one of three autograph stations, the Steelers Sideline Store, and interactive elements such as Fox Sports Net QB Toss, and an HBO inflatable Helmet. Fans can also receive free face painting compliments of Game Faces. Additionally, ESPN's continual coverage of the NFL Draft will be shown on the Jumbotron and television monitors throughout the Coca-Cola Great Hall.

The Great Hall will feature the Steelers Sideline Store, an autograph station and a variety of entertainment with a special interactive area including, Sony Playstation II on four 61-inch monitors, and Miggle Toys Electric Football. On the Great Hall stage, there will be a taping of the McDonalds KidZone show, followed by a live performance by "The Smokin Section" from the Jerome Bettis Show. KDKA-TV will provide live coverage and also have on-air personalities on hand along with the KD Bear.

All fans in attendance will have the chance to win a number of great giveaways, including a Kingsford Charcoal Tailgate Party and Steelers tickets. The grand prize in the QB Challenge for the fan who throws the football into a trash can from 30 yards is a $1,600 cable package and a $3,000 Toro riding mower. In case of multiple winners, one name will be drawn as a winner.

Tickets are on sale in advance at all Giant Eagle Ticket Master outlets. Fans can also purchase tickets on the day of the event at the Steelers Game Day ticket office beginning at 10 a.m. The price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Entry for the event is at Gate A, which opens at 11 a.m. Parking for the event is available in the Gold Lot 2A from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (500 spaces) for $3. The rate changes to $8 at 5 p.m., due to the Pirates game later in the evening (7:05 p.m.).
