LB Porter Shot, Non-life threatening ( UPDATE )

Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter is listed in serious condition in a Denver hospital with non-life threatening injuries Sunday after being shot at a sports bar in the early morning in that city.

According to several sources, Porter was shot in the buttocks. Doctors are still evaluating whether or not to perform surgery to remove the bullet, but the injury is not considered life-threatening.

One person was killed in the shooting, which occurred in the early-morning hours. It appears that Porter was an innocent bystander. The incident took place at 1:47 a.m. at Denver's Best Sports Bar and Grille.

Porter earned his first Pro Bowl trip last season, leading the Steelers in tackles, while tying for the team lead in sacks and interceptions, with nine and four, respectively.

In four years with the Steelers, Porter has missed only one game. He has 301/2 sacks in his career, ranking him 12th in team history.

Porter apparently was in Denver watching Colorado State's 42-35 loss Saturday night against Colorado. Porter attended Colorado State, where he is that school's all-time sack leader.
