LB Porter Takes A Run ( Quick Update )

PITTSBURGH - Steelers linebacker Joey Porter ran sprints and practiced his backpedal at practice Wednesday, just 11 days after being shot outside a Denver bar.

But Porter, who is listed as doubtful to play in Sunday's game at Kansas City Sunday, said he's still probably not ready to put the pads back on just yet.

"It's a long season," Porter said. "We're what, less than two weeks in? I have to be smart about this."

Porter said even he is shocked by his quick recovery from a gunshot wound to the buttocks and thigh, but that he still isn't 100 percent yet.

"I've been lifting weights, but not what I was lifting before," Porter said.

"I'll keep doing more every day and we'll see how it goes."

In other news Wednesday, running back Jerome Bettis did not practice, while center Jeff Hartings practiced sparingly.

Bettis is listed as questionable for Sunday's game with a groin injury, while Hartings is probable.
