Steelers Mid-Week Wrap

Practice notes and team news heading into week three of the 2003 NFL season.

-- LB Joey Porter is practicing and will likely play in his first game Sunday against Cincinnati. Porter was shot Aug. 31, the 9mm bullet passing through his buttocks and into his thigh.

-- RB Verron Haynes is questionable with a hyperextended knee. If he cannot play, starter Amos Zereoue probably will also play on third downs. He did not practice on Wednesday.

-- WR Antwaan Randle El, who caught 47 passes as a rookie, has just four for 28 yards after two games.

-- RB Jerome Bettis has rushed for 100 yards 10 times in his 14 games against the Bengals, but he's no longer the starting halfback. He's the NFL's third-leading rusher since he came to the Steelers in 1996 with 8,472 yards.

-- QB Tommy Maddox leads the NFL with 596 passing yards, but he is third from the bottom in the AFC with a 44.4 passer rating on third downs.

--C Jeff Hartings has an ankle injury to go with his chronic knee soreness. He is questionable and would be replaced by Chukky Okobie, who did a good job last season when he played for an injured Hartings.
