RB Jerome Bettis led the Steelers in rushing for the first time this season, although it was a dubious achievement. Bettis ran for 34 yards on 14 carries, a 2.4-yard average. Bettis also caught his first pass of the season, for seven yards, and lost a fumble for the first time in 220 carries.
LB Joey Porter led the Steelers in tackles, with six, for the first time since he returned in the third game from being shot in the buttocks the week before the season began. Other than a 26-yard end-around by Rod Smith, the rush defense had a good game and the Broncos finished with 77 yards rushing on 18 tries with no touchdowns. Clinton Portis was held to 47 yards on 15 carries.
On special teams, Jeff Reed was perfect on two chip-shot field goal tries and the Broncos were held to a 3.7-yard average on punt returns and a 16-yard average on kickoff returns. If only someone could have gotten a hand on Jason Elam's 47-yard game-winning field goal.
