Game Quotes: Steelers Offense Gets Quoted

<b>WR Chris Doering<br>Q: What happened on the flea flicker?</b><p><b>CD: </b> "We had that in the game plan for several weeks. We've just been waiting for a chance to get to run it. We singled it out for the first third and long to take a shot with it. It's one of those things that makes you nervous the night before because you know you're going to be wide open. It's just a matter of getting the ball there in a hurry and catching it. I was anxious for it to hurry up and get there."<p>

Q: Were you happier with that one or the touchdown?

CD: "A little bit of both. It was fun to get my longest NFL career catch and then come back with my first Steelers touchdown. It was a good day. I was happy."

WR Antwaan Randle El
Q: What happened on the punt return for a touchdown?

ARE: "I got some good blocks. I set it up better than I did before."

Q: How did you set it up?

ARE: "He tried to pin it to the sidelines. I think when I caught it, there were a lot of guys in front of me. And that, basically, helped set it up on its own. I had guys from the back side coming to help out. Any time you get a ball that's in the corner and you're able to get back to the wall - then I stemmed it toward the middle, and that was it. I basically split everybody."

WR Hines Ward
Q: Do you feel like you have a weight off your back?

HW: "Yeah. It's a big win for us. We didn't play as well as we'd like to, but we'll take it. It's something to build on. A win is a win.

We've got two days off - coach Cowher gave us Monday off - and we can relax and get ready for San Francisco on Monday night."

RB Jerome Bettis
Q: Is it like the playoffs from here on out?

JB: "Yeah, every game is do or die at this point. We built the bed, and now we've got to get ourselves out of bed. It's going to be difficult, but it's something we've got to do."

QB Tommy Maddox
Q; You seemed more aggressive in the red zone today?

TM: Yeah, I think we took our shots from the field a little bit more. We have been trying to be a little bit more aggressive and we have not been able to take advantage of it. Today we were able to. Guys were really sharp with what they were doing.

Q: After the drop in the end zone by Plaxico and the missed field goal, it would have been easy to fold, wouldn't it?

TM: Yeah. I can't say enough about this team. The first half did not go the way we wanted to. Obviously we moved the ball and hurt ourselves with some penalties and got into some situations that were hard to overcome. But everybody kept on fighting.

Q: Did you feel that you had more time today?

TM: "No question. The protection has been good. When we can run the ball the way we are running it, and protect and be able to throw the ball, those are the things we want to do."
