Bell practices, Scott injured

PITTSBURGH - The Steelers got a bit of a scare Wednesday as they prepared to open the season Sunday at Heinz Field against Oakland as cornerback Chad Scott was forced to leave practice with an injury to his right thumb.

Scott apparently injured the thumb while jostling at the line of scrimmage with wide receiver Plaxico Burress. He left practice an extended period of time before returning with the thumb heavily wrapped in tape.

The injury is not expected to keep him out of Sunday's game against Oakland.

Linebacker Kendrell Bell returned to practice Wednesday and showed no ill effects of the shoulder injury that caused him to miss a good portion of the preseason.

Bell continues to be listed as questionable on the team's injury list, however.
