Steelers Roethlisberger Up For Rookie Honors

Linebacker Karlos Dansby of the Arizona Cardinals, kicker Nate Kaeding of the San Diego Chargers, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, wide receiver Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions and safety Gibril Wilson of the New York Giants are the finalists for Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week honors for games played on September 26-27, the NFL announced today.

Fans can vote for one of these five players on beginning Tuesday morning and ending on Thursday afternoon to determine the Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week. The Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week will be announced Thursday afternoon on

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville.

A closer look at the finalists:

· Arizona's Karlos Dansby recorded three tackles and one sack and recovered one fumble in the Cardinals' 6-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Dansby was part of a defensive effort by the Cardinals that held Atlanta to just 283 total yards.

· San Diego's Nate Kaeding kicked two field goals and one extra point in the Chargers' 23-13 loss to the Denver Broncos. Kaeding, who is four-of-four on field goal attempts this season, connected on a 51-yarder against Denver.

· Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger completed 12 of 22 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown in the Steelers' 13-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. In his first career start, Roethlisberger connected with wide receiver Hines Ward on a seven-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass to help seal the win.

· Detroit's Roy Williams caught nine passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions' 30-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams recorded his first NFL 100-yard receiving game and leads the team with 17 receptions for 277 yards and four touchdowns on the season.

· New York Giants' Gibril Wilson recorded a team-high seven tackles and one interception in the Giants' 27-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Wilson's interception was his second in two games.

This is Pepsi's third year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL.
