One on One with Chris Hoke

GVB: Chris, this is one of the reasons you play football, games like this.

Hoke: Oh, it's big. We're playing against the world champions. It's a great opportunity for us to go out there and show what we've got.

GVB: It's an opportunity for you, too. You've got big shoes to fill but I know you're looking forward to the opportunity.

Hoke: No doubt about that. They're big shoes to fill with Casey Hampton being down. I'm excited about it and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to show what I've got.

GVB: This defense has responded when things have happened. Are there guys that have to step up?

Hoke: There are a lot of guys who have to step up. I gotta step into Casey's spot and play well, and we all gotta step up and stop the world champions.

GVB: What about this New England team? They present a lot of problems; it looks like their quarterback doesn't get rattled to much.

Hoke: No, he doesn't get rattled very much. If we hit him a few times…I think that if you hit any guy a few times he'll be looking over his shoulder for someone coming at him. Hopefully we can shake him up a little bit and see what happens.

GVB: It looks like they're pretty balanced, too. They can pass and throw.

Hoke: They've got Corey Dillon in the backfield, they've got Tom Brady throwing to great receivers, their offensive line plays very well together, and so it's a well-balanced offense.

GVB: If you can come up with a couple of turnovers, that would help.

Hoke: That would help a lot. If we can get some turnovers and make the ballgame exciting I think it would help our team quite a bit.
