RB Jerome Bettis wasn't happy with comments made by Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest last week questioning both the ability and the disappearance of The Bus in the Steelers lineup.

Bettis scored his eighth TD of the season, and he had 65 yards rushing on 15 carries.

"Early in the week he said some things about him not knowing where I was," Bettis said. "I appreciate his concern about what team I played for. Yeah, I do play for the Pittsburgh Steelers and I'm here."

Like QB Ben Roethlisberger, NT Chris Hoke is undefeated. He made his first NFL start Sunday in place of injured Pro Bowler Casey Hampton and the Patriots had 5 yards rushing.

"There were a lot of emotions in my head," Hoke said. "I thought I held my own. They just didn't run the ball very much. But I thought on the pass rush, I did a good job."
  • WR Plaxico Burress is the only receiver in the top 50 in the AFC who has a 20.0 average. He has 21 receptions for 419 yards.

  • FB Dan Kreider caught his first pass of the season, for 13 yards. He now has one reception and one run.

  • OT Max Starks, a third-round draft choice this year, played in his first game and was active for the first time on Sunday.

  • DE Aaron Smith recorded another sack and now leads the Steelers with five sacks, three short of his career high.

  • K Jeff Reed has made his past six-field goal attempts, including two from 51 yards, after making just two of his first five.
