Rasby: Yeah, I'm very happy with the situation. It couldn't have worked out better as far as I'm concerned.
GVB: What kind of shape are you in?
Rasby: I'm in shape. I went home and pretty much called my trainer and said "let's get back in the gym." Keep running and lifting, that sort of thing. I figured that maybe somebody would pick me up.
GVB: So in that regard you don't think you're going to miss a beat. Of course there are "good shape" and "football shape." How long do you think it will take you to get into "football shape?"
Rasby: Hopefully just this week of practice. I'm kind of hitting the ground running here, as far as learning the playbooks and understanding what's going on, but I have to hit the ground running this week.
GVB: Traditionally, the Steelers have not thrown a lot to the tight end in the past but it seems like they're spreading the ball around. Riemersma caught a touchdown pass before he got injured, Tuman has been a part of things. It seems like they're spreading it around a little bit.
Rasby: Yeah, that's always good. We always look at it as a little treat on top of the work we do. If it comes my way, it comes my way; if it doesn't, it doesn't.
GVB: This team seems to be so level-headed. Yeah, they're riding high right now but the veterans seem to keep a real cap on things. There's never any peaks or valleys with this team.
Rasby: That's the best way to do it in the National Football League, being too high with the highs or too low with the lows, because you never know what's waiting around the corner. The vets that are doing it here are doing it the way it's supposed to be. Hopefully I can just fall right in place with them and help that.
GVB: That's been a big thing. They've had injuries on this team but people have stepped into the breach.
Rasby: That's what being a team's about. That's what the young guys have to realize. They're getting a real good lesson here, that you have to be prepared at all times.
GVB: I appreciate it, Walter.
Rasby: Thank you.
