Hartings: That's right. I don't know…if destiny is God's plan, then definitely he's in control and your destiny might be to lose the next game or it might be to win the Super Bowl. I don't know that but I know that this week I'm going back to work on Monday and prepare to win this game and play to the best of my ability and see what happens.
GVB: Roethlisburger had a couple of picks. Did you sense at any point that he was shaken at all? He's been like ice water all year long.
Hartings: He is. He's a great, great quarterback because I think that at the quarterback position, the less emotion you show, the better.
GVB: The running game once again stepped up. On that last drive you guys just hunkered down and took it to 'em.
Hartings: Well, I give credit to Coach Grimm and Coach Whisenhunt and the offensive staff. When you get into a situation like that one-I've seen a lot of teams get into a situation like that and think that it's time to spread it out. You almost get into a two-minute mode just because it's overtime. That's impatience. That's not our game. That's not Steelers football, that's for sure. It feels good to win doing what we do best.
GVB: What was going through your mind on the two field goal attempts, the late ones that they had?
Hartings: Well, I believe in God. I believe that He's in control. Their kicker can grow from this experience. There's no reason to believe that this is the end of his career or his life. For some reason, we got a chance. I don't know why. It's like I said, there are a lot of things that people question, especially in this time with the tsunami and the mudslides. I don't think it's any different in my real life, playing football.
GVB: Finally, when you guys were lining up for Reed, you guys have so much confidence in him. What a great year he's had.
Hartings: Fantastic. He's been unbelievable. He deserves it. He's been in, working out since April, May, June, July. It's good to see have success when he deserves it.
GVB: You know, the Colts and Patriots are going to play tomorrow. Any thoughts on either of those teams, who you'd prefer, or would you rather just savor this right now?
Hartings: Well, you never want to say, "boy, I hope we play this team," or "I hope we play that team" because that might affect your outlook on the week. You just watch the game. I'm going to be watching from an evaluation standpoint. I'll be watching the Colts defense when they're out there and the New England defense when they're out there.
GVB: Thanks a lot, Jeff.
Hartings: No problem.
