Q&A with Steelers RB Verron Haynes

GVB: Verron, another step closer. It has to feel great. You guys found a way again.

Haynes: That's what it is. That's what it's all about, man, finding a way. Nobody said it was going to be easy. We live to play another day, another week.

GVB: The Jets gave it their best shot. It was a heck of a ball game.

Haynes: Exciting. I think the fans…everybody got their money's worth.

GVB: What were you thinking when you guys were moving down the field on that last drive? You came up with a couple of big first downs, in particular when you lined up for that field goal. Reed has been so good of late and so good throughout the season.

Haynes: I think Coach Cowher prepared him well. On Thursdays we have situations where he has to hurry up and kick the ball, or he gives him a time out. It simulates exactly the game situation, what can occur, and J-Reed stayed focused. He's been kicking the ball great all year. Another example of that was shown today.

GVB: You came up with a couple of big plays there, when they need them.

Haynes: Well, that's what it's all about. I had a drop out there earlier, but champions find a way and your heart is what exhibits the fight in you.

GVB: Jerome went over a hundred again today, and what a one-two punch: you put Duce in there and he came up with some big yardage.

Haynes: Absolutely. It's good. We started the season and we knew that if everybody was healthy, we were going to be a tough team to stop. So I'm glad that we've got Duce and Jerome and myself. Like I said, we're healthy and we're ready to roll.

GVB: Any preferences as you watch that other game being played, or you've just got them in your house?

Haynes: Man, I'm just happy that we got out of here with a victory. Next week, we'll be prepared again.

GVB: Thanks a lot, Verron.

Haynes: No problem.
