Feeling insulted by what he considered a low-ball offer from the Steelers, unrestricted free agent wide receiver Bobby Shaw has scheduled his first official visit of the offseason, The Insiders has learned.
The four-year veteran will be in Houston today visiting the Texans, who, as expected, have been among the most active teams in the early stages of free agency.
The Texans currently have seven receivers on their roster, but only one -- ex-Raven Jermaine Lewis -- has any real NFL experience. Take away Lewis' 136 catches in six seasons, and the other six wideouts have combined for a grand total of 14 receptions.
Shaw, coming off a 24-catch season, would immediately be penciled into Houston's starting lineup opposite Lewis. That will be an important factor for Shaw as he considers himself to be a starting-caliber receiver and is seeking to be paid commensurate to his perceived ability.
