Q&A with Marvel Smith

The team is 3-8 when you don't play left tackle and 26-7 when you do. Is that a coincidence? You can look at it like that if you want, but it's still a team game no matter who's out there. Everybody's got to step up each week.

That's still a pretty amazing number.
It's something you can talk about, but to me, it ain't no big deal. I just want to be healthy enough to play each week. I want to be out on the field and to be able to contribute to the team.

You look like you're moving around a lot better. Is it not bothering you as much?
I feel good. I would have played last week if it was up to me. I don't ever figure I can't go out there. I'll play regardless of how it feels. But I feel pretty good, a lot better than I did last week.

You're a gamer.
Oh yeah. I'll play regardless.

Did the week off help you for the long run?
At this point in the season, it helps anybody to take a week off. My ankle feels a lot better than it did last week.

Their ends are little, speed rushing guys. I know Freeney has the spin move he goes to, but are they more speed rush guys than anything?
Everybody has tendancies you can pick up on. It's just a matter of going out there and taking advantage of them and executing.

The two ends they have are getting a lot of accolades, Pro Bowl players. You're a Pro Bowl player. Is this the kind of matchup you really get up for?
You gotta love a matchup like this. You gotta love playing against the best players. If you don't, there's no reason to play this game. It's a competition and I'm competitive. I want to go out there and play against the best players. That's what I look forward to.
