Re: Burress arrested for public intoxication

This is a bit of a hot button for me, so pardon my rant.

I'll have to disagree with those of you that seem to think getting ripped and causing trouble in public is normal, almost expected behavior. I don't. It's childish, stupid, and not becoming of any of us, but especially of someone in the public eye. There's just no excuse for it. Yeah, Plex is young, but last I checked he was still over 21 and subject to the same rules as the rest of us...

And of course, the next criticism is about the "morality police". Yep, it sure is asking a lot to expect someone to behave in public. And how dare we hold them accountable when they don't!! I guess in a society where tolerance is valued more than morals, anything goes. If Plex is getting ripped on the town and causing trouble, who cares, right? Party on!! Sorry, I like cops in this situation. They're the good guys.

Let's get it straight once and for all - this has nothing to do with **morality**. It has everything to do with **legality**, instead. There's a huge difference. I'm sure it pleases Rooney no end to pay this man this kinda money, and then have to watch him damage himself and his career this way. I know I'd hate to be the one paying Plex when I see this kind of nonsense. I hope Rooney rips Plex a new one...he's put together a proud, respected franchise, and shouldn't have to see its image damaged like this...

The problem is the penalty isn't enough, so those with the $$ can effectively ignore the law. Plex is a multi-millionaire, why should a $1000 fine bother him? He's above the law...

Personally, I hope this thing is blown into a media frenzy so that perhaps Plex will grow up a little and want to avoid it in the future, if for no other reason than it cuts into his time spent cruising for bitches. If anyone wonders why character is such a crucial element when you draft, this is why. We took a chance on the guy. Maybe he'll grow up, maybe he won't...either way, the whole thing sucks.
