Photo Gallery: Training Camp I

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what follows is a rambling 12,000-word narrative of what was my first-ever Steelers training camp experience. Without further ado, here's the first dirty, sweaty, sunburned dozen ...

Showing no fear,'s Dale Lolley (right) ...

... and Jim Wexell (left) corner James "Silverback" Harrison following his now-famous goal-line touchdown reception. Note the strong trap and deltoid development; Harrison is pretty big, too.

After welcoming this camp rookie to St. Vincent, a pair of "big friendlies" -- Chris Kemoeatu (68) and Marvin Philip (62) -- smile big for the camera.

In goal-line action, Alan Faneca (66) lays a crushing block on Larry Foote (50) as Troy Polamalu (43) looks to fill.

First-rounder Santonio Holmes (prone) gets some extra attention for his aching left hammy.

Receiver Cedrick Wilson (80) runs a curl route versus cornerback Ike Taylor. Wilson would catch the pass for a decent gain, including some YAC.

Linebacker Joey Porter talks it up on the sideline.

Brett Keisel (left), Casey Hampton (98), Aaron Smith (91), and Clark Haggans (53) break the defensive huddle.

Receiver Nate Washington tracks down a long ball.

Max Starks (left) and Aaron Smith (right) engage in hand-to-hand combat.

Scott Paxson (74) battles Tim Brown one-on-one.

Willie Colon (74) sets up in pass-pro as Willie Reid and Ricardo Colclough (foreground) sprint downfield.
