Steelers sign four

The Steelers added to their offseason roster by signing Mike Barr and three other players this morning.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed four players to its Reserve/Future list, the team announced today.

The Steelers signed punter Mike Barr, wide receiver Gerran Walker, and linebackers Derek Rehage and Richard Koonce to contracts.

The Steelers also announced that Walker, Rehage, Koonce and defensive back Grant Mason, whom the team signed on Jan. 12, were allocated to NFL Europa.

Barr (6-2, 230) signed with Pittsburgh on Feb. 17, 2006, but was waived following the team's training camp. He also attended Pittsburgh's training camp in 2004 and 2005, but was waived in the final roster cuts.

Barr played three seasons (2004-06) in NFL Europa with the Frankfurt Galaxy. He led the league in punts inside the 20-yard line in each of his three seasons (20 in 2006; 16 in 2005; 18 in 2004). During his NFL Europa career Barr punted 137 times for 5,306 yards (38.7 avg.) with 54 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Walker (5-10, 185) played collegiately at Lehigh. He attended the San Diego Chargers' 2006 training camp but was waived.

Rehage (6-0, 242), who attended Miami (Ohio), and Koonce (6-0, 235), who attended East Carolina, were not in NFL training camps in 2006.
