Well, if you've been with us this past month, you've not only been privy to a pair of major news scoops (team sticking with 3-4 base defense; Joey Porter getting cut), but you've read our free agency previews and our full Scout.com combine coverage. We had 12 members of our national network in Indianapolis and we all contributed to coverage that will interest you for at least the next month. I'm looking forward to presenting that info to you about the Steelers and their draft targets.
In the midst of this draft coverage, we'll have exclusive news on pro days, player visits and how the Steelers are viewing the draft, not to mention the ongoing free-agent player grab.
I've been covering the team since 1995. Joining me on the staff are 15-year beat man Dale Lolley of the Washington (Pa.) Observer-Reporter, the creative writing pride of William & Mary College columnist Ryan Wilson, and some guy by the name of Craig Wolfley, who reports here after doing the game from the sideline for the Steelers Radio Network. Wolf is also in the midst of breaking down the play, and off-season workout regimens, of the offensive linemen.
We've divided up our profits to pay this all-star staff, and more profits will mean a bigger staff, because our immediate goal is not to make money, but to become the go-to place for Steelers fans. Build it and they will come; or so I've been told.
The second best time of the year is upon us – draft season. You definitely want to take advantage of this offer, and it's good TODAY ONLY.

That's the pitch. As we do every year to kick off our draft coverage, we present the odds on whom we believe the Steelers will draft first on April 28. More in-depth reports will follow every weekday throughout these eight weeks preceding the draft. They'll run in conjunction with my draft reports on Fox Sports Radio 970 (daily at 7:57 a.m., 11:57 a.m., 5:57 p.m.), but the reports here will go into far greater detail.
Serious students of Steelers football already know the team will stick with its 3-4 base defense, so our odds reflect that interest. Here are our first-round odds as we begin our 2007 draft series:
* At 20-1, Cal running back Marshawn Lynch.
* At 15-1, LSU receiver, Dwayne Bowe.
Now, the 3-4 defenders:
This is just an outline. We'll narrow the list as we go along. Tomorrow, we'll begin to explain these opening odds.
