Wednesday Notes

PITTSBURGH - Steelers head coach Bill Cowher continued to be coy with the media regarding who the team's starting quarterback would be Sunday at Jacksonville. But Kordell Stewart took the majority of the snaps with the first team offense Wednesday, indicating Cowher may have his mind made up more than he is letting on, as far as who will start against the Jaguars.<p>

When asked when he would make an announcement about who the starter would be, Cowher replied, "Sunday."

Stewart started last Sunday's 29-21 victory over Cincinnati and played well, completing 22-of-26 attempts for 236 yards and a touchdown. He started for the first time since the team's third game, after Maddox suffered brain and spinal cord concussions two weeks ago in a loss to Tennessee.

In other news, linebacker James Farrior and cornerback Hank Poteat returned to practice Wednesday. Both remain questionable to play Sunday at this time. Guard Kendall Simmons, running back Jerome Bettis, and safety Mike Logan missed practice Wednesday. Bettis is probable, while Logan is questionable.

Center Chukky Okobi "tweaked" his groin during practice, but returned after a brief hiatus.
