Ben Roethlisberger met with the media Wednesday. Here's what the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback had to say.

With all the quarterbacks going down around the league, do you kind of understand why there may be some concern when you're a little banged up?

It was a bad week for football players and quarterbacks getting hurt. That's why they say it's the most physical sport that we have. It's one of those things where it's always kind of thing we say at the end of the year, the healthiest team usually does well. You don't expect it to be in week one. But I feel good. I'm OK.

Will you kind of ease into the week?

Yeah, I kind of have to. I can't do anything too crazy too early. Wednesday is kind of the day for veteran guys to kind of get a breather and some rest. We'll see how it goes and how tomorrow feels.

That happened on that sack at the end of the half?

Yeah, the second one he landed on me and, that's a big man. He about broke my arm when he caused the fumble. I've been hit like that a lot. I really thought he snapped my arm. My arm was still attached to the football and he was holding my arm. He's a big man.

The one incompletion you had, was that a throw away?

Yeah, that was a throw away.

Coach said you can't really put a lot into how (Cleveland) played against Dallas?

Like (Bruce Arians) said, it's a divisional game, it's kind of for first place in the division. It's always a battle when we play each other anyway. Sunday night adds a little extra to it, lights, everybody's watching. We know we're going to get their best shot and I hope they know they're going to get our best shot because that's the way it always is. They're very talented. They obviously did a lot of new things in the offseason, new players and whatnot. They're a very good defense.

Can you give these guys an early knockout blow, put them in an 0-2 hole?

It's a big game. It's a divisional game. Any time you get a win against a team and get up on them early, it's awesome. We know it's not going to be easy and I'm sure they feel the same way. It would be nice to get an early win in the division.

What does Willie (Parker) bring to the mix as a short-yardage back?

Willie is always, in my opinion, been a short-yardage guy. He's a little ball of muscle. He's not the biggest guy. He's not Jerome Bettis, but he's very strong, got very good balance and he's very quick. If he needs to bounce it outside, which he did a couple of times, he can do that. He's a presence down there. We need to acknowledge how good he is down there.

How much does it help you guys to have that balance down there?

It's huge, not just for him to be effective running the ball, but the play-action, the nakeds, the boots. It's good to have someone like that down there. We'll continue to utilize him down there.

Any thoughts about you guys getting Martin Nance?

Mike (Tomlin) went against him every day when he was in Minnesota. He was a practice squad guy against coach Tomlin's defense. He knew about him and he told me he wanted to bring him in and I wasn't going to object to it because I know Martin. He's a very good friend and a very good receiver.

You've had a lot of success in Ohio. Is there something to that?

I joked with the Cleveland media today, my friends won't let me live it down if I don't win in that state. It's just something going home and trying to win at home. It's a little something added for Cleveland because I think they had a pick higher than 11 when I was drafted.

Santonio (Holmes) has the same kind of deal going in Ohio.

Yeah. I was joking with Braylon (Edwards) at the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl that I never want to lose to him. I'm sure he'll be coming after me.

Do you hear a lot from their fans in the (Dog) Pound?

Whenever opposing fans get on you, it's usually the kind of thing where they're getting on you because you like to talk trash or because you're a good player. I hear mixed things from the pound, not that I really pay much attention to it, but I'll look up and see somebody I went to high school with or something. It's kind of a funny thing. I'm not too intimidated by it.

You're a trash talker?

I'm not. Braylon and I trash talk a little bit.

Is this like a ninth home game for you guys, you haven't lost there in quite a while?

That's the thing, just because we've won, it's a new season, new teams. We've never been the exact same Pittsburgh team and they're not the same Browns team. This team has, technically, never beaten that Browns team. We take that approach and we know they're going to be gunning for us.

That's a pretty young secondary they have, isn't it?

It is. But you know what? They're still very talented. Their front seven is very good and they make up for their youngness with their experience in the front seven. It's going to be a challenge for us no matter how it stacks up.
