Ben Roethlisberger met with the media on Wednesday. Here's what the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers had to say:
Can you play running back?
We don't need it. We've got some good ones here.
Does that change anything, how you approach the game from an offensive standpoint?
No. It can't You've got to have confidence that guys are going to step up. Last week they did it. We have confidence that the guys we have will do it this week.
What kind of challenge is it playing another physical game after a short week following a physical game?
The short week is always tough and we just went 12 rounds in a heavyweight fight. It's going to be another 12 rounds this week because it's always a physical game when we play Jacksonville. We have to get as healthy as we can as soon as we can and the bye week will come at a good time.
Have you thought about this being the team that knocked you out of the playoffs last year, beat you twice?
That was last year. We can't dwell on that. I can't go into this game thinking that we've got to get payback. It's not worth that. It's about going out and playing this game. It's an AFC game and it's important for us.
What do you need to do to be better on third downs?
Convert. No, we've got to do better. We did better. We made things happen. We just need to continue to get the visuals and know that when it's hot, it's hot and when it's not, it's not.
Do you think you'll go to the no-huddle more readily now that you've had some success with it?
I don't know. We'll see. It kind of depends on how we're playing. It's kind of a change-of-pace for us. It's worked well for us in the past.
How much more difficult is it to do that on the road?
It's a lot tougher, especially early. If we can kind of take the crowd out of it, it will be easier. We'll work on the no-huddle as a silent count. I have confidence that we can get it done.
Were you impressed with what Mewelde (Moore) did in that game?
No I'm not (editor's note: he misunderstood the question). I know what he can do. If I said I was surprised, it would mean that I didn't think he could do it. I had all the confidence in the world in him. When he was called upon, he did great things.
Can (Byron) Leftwich help you at all?
I've already (talked to him). That whole first meeting, I was asking him who he knows, what he knows, little tidbits about each guy. It's a big help to have him here.
Was he helpful?
Oh yeah, and we'll continue to do it.
What's the defensive line from Jacksonville look like this year?
Big, good, strong and fast. They lost one guy – and he was a big guy – but they've still got an extremely good defense and it starts up front for them.
Are they a big blitz team?
Yeah, they do blitz. It's not going to be like we've seen the last two weeks with Philly and Baltimore showing us all kind of crazy looks, but they will bring blitzes and it will be tough.
