Because we can never seem to get enough news about Chad Ochocinco, we think it's worth noting that he didn't exactly deny an Internet rumor, reported by TMZ.com, that he's engaged to Evelyn Lozada, one of the stars of "Basketball Wives." Of course, he's got bigger problems these days.
For one, a bum shoulder he suffered last Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. For another, a $6-million option that the Cincinnati Bengals may or may not pick up next season. And there's also the matter of a 2-7 record for a team that had high hopes.
All of which makes the remainder of the season critically important to the wide receiver.
"I'm not just playing for me, but playing for everybody in here, playing for coach (Marvin) Lewis, you know how that is," Ochocinco said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy. "Playing for Cincinnati. Playing for everybody."
Ochocinco is in his 10th season with the Bengals and has 47 receptions, 559 yards and three touchdowns. Asked if he'd like an 11th season, he said, "I don't know. I hope. Yeah, why not? I've been here this long."
And what about those rumors that he's engaged?
"We are in a football locker room and have a game on Sunday," he answered, implying that it wasn't the time or place to discuss personal matters.
Reedy, however, noted that Ochocinco told someone in the locker room that if he didn't already post the news on his Twitter or Facebook pages, why would they believe TMZ.
Good point, except that Lozada offered up her own tweet – a picture of a 10-carat engagement ring. "I'm no rabbit," she added, "but 10 carats looks good on me!! Let the hating begin."
