Ike Taylor has thumb surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor is on the mend following surgery today to address a broken left thumb suffered against the Washington Redskins.

According to the Associated Press, Taylor had a pin inserted into his hand.

It's unclear when he'll be back, but Taylor has said he expects to be ready for the Steelers' opening game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 11.

With Taylor sidelined, it will be up to William Gay to step in for him with the first-team defense.
