Kerry Collins' deal worth $4 million

The Indianapolis Colts' insurance policy in case Peyton Manning is sidelined for a while following neck surgery cost them $4 million.

That's the value of newly-signed quarterback Kerry Collins' total compensation this year, according to a league source. That includes a $2.5 million signing bonus.

Collins' two-year contract includes an expensive voidable year in 2012 where he's due a $10 million base salary.

Obviously, the Colts won't be paying Collins that money next season. Still, the money they are committing to him this year displays how seriously the AFC South organization is taking Manning's health status.
