Center Andre Gurode lands in Baltimore

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Former Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode has agreed to a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced. The contract is worth up to $3 million. The deal will become official once the five-time Pro Bowl selection passes his physical.

"We just got better as a team," general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "To have a successful season, you have to have quality depth across the board. We just added great depth to the interior of our offensive line with Andre."

Gurode was signed to provide depth behind six-time Pro Bowl center Matt Birk, who had surgery on his left knee at the beginning of training camp.

Gurode was cut by the Cowboys last week for salary-cap reasons.

He visited the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots before agreeing to terms with the Ravens.
